I don't like the graphics & colors of 2.X; I'm going back to 1.X

Roto is trying to sell the game to an audience many of whom simply wouldn't take the time to look at a game which has graphics like an 80s video game. So I think he's right to try to improve them. Only problem is, I'm not sure the 3D graphics are better than the original - it's pretty hard to make out the planes and chopper until you get used to playing. | Ally | 7/8/2005 9:29:30 PM | | Perhaps in future releases Roto could give an option simmilar to teh 8-bit 16-bit colour option in Battle Group 7, except with 2D adn 3D graphics. | Sylak | 1/28/2005 11:17:39 PM | | I am trying to make the game more realistic. I want the game, well eventually, to give playes stategic control AND soldier level control. In otherwords, I want you to experience what a general giving ordes would experience as well as the guy in the trenches. I am far from that. Each release has been "Lessons Learned" for me and graphics will advance even futher in the next release that I am working on. | Roto | 8/17/2004 5:07:50 PM | | I did the same – played V2 a couple of times, then moved back to V1. I don’t think a strategy game needs 3D graphics and moving animations. Problem with sophisticated graphics is that either you zoom in closely or you can’t see it. What you need in a strategy game are color combinations that make it easy to recognize the battle field on a tactical and strategic level and simple icons that can be clearly seen without zooming in on a unit.
I created a design for another game with these principles in mind, see:

I am offering this graphics for free if Roto wants to incorporate it in V2 or V3.
